Tile ordering formula
purchase area = length × width × surfaces × (1 + waste %)Tile count divides purchase area by one tile's face area. Box and grout quantities always round up.
Estimate loose tiles, full boxes, and grout for one or more equal rectangular surfaces.
Use the actual coverage printed on the tile carton and grout package when available.
The calculator converts net coverage to pieces and boxes, but tile direction, centered layouts, borders, niches, diagonal patterns, and minimum cut sizes can change usable yield. A dry layout or scaled sketch is the final check.

Straight layouts often need less waste than diagonal patterns, complex borders, many corners, or a room with numerous cuts. Keep spare matching tile for later repairs.
