Choose the sand before choosing a density
Masonry sand, concrete sand, paver bedding, play sand, and fill sand have different grading, moisture, compaction, and supplier conversion factors. The volume is geometric; the weight and bag count depend on the product actually delivered.
- Ask whether the supplier sells by loose volume or scale weight.
- Keep bedding depth separate from compacted base depth.
- Allow for settlement and uneven excavation where appropriate.
